Eldorado Fire and Rescue Service Wildland Fire Coordinator Nort Phillips performed a survey of the Eldorado Community Stables to give us tips and recommendations to help mitigate potential fire risk. The top suggestions for barn owners:
— Seal the bottom of your barn at ground level by installing solid skirting: wood, metal, rock or earth are all good options. This safety tip should help prevent sparks from being sucked into barns from below.
— Trim back all chamisa bushes; collect and remove dead branches and dry weeds and brush within 30 feet of your barns and paddocks
